The seen and heard this morning.....

Dancing With The Stars celebrities Cheryl Burke
and Gilles Marini will be at Thursday night's competition to pick up some tips from the pros for their Rumba and Foxtrot being danced next week.

Also.....word is Mark Ballas and Derek Hough of Dancing With The Stars fame will also be making an appearance this weekend.

The Emerald Ball was honored to be joined today by celebrity body builder, actress, fitness model and muscle diva Lauren Powers.

Lauren was competing in her first dancesport competition with her teacher Sean Brunell of Londance Studios in Laguna Niguel, CA.

On Thursday Lauren competed in the International Latin garnering 5 first places and 4 seconds.

Lauren has just completed a sitcom, is working on her own reality show with Londance Studios owner Pat West and is currently filming a feature film based on her life called "Beneath The Muscle".

Recently Lauren was the Grand Finale performer for California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at the Arnold Dancesport Classic.

Lauren is currently sponsored by Dore Designs, Randal Designs, Dancelife and Strictly Ballroom.

Rumor has it that Lauren may join next season's line-up at Dancing With The Stars.

For more information and to keep on everything Lauren visit her website at www.laurenpowers.com.

Cheryl Burke and Gilles Marini were quite the hit at last night's event and were joined by DWTS Pro Tony Dovolani.

And the winner of the Pro/Am Invitational Studio Team Match is......Londance! Congratulations to Pat West and her gang of hard working teachers and students.

The Emerald Ball would like to wish a very happy 40th to David Alvarez of Santa Barbara Dance Center. David will be spending his birthday with us on Saturday, May 2nd.

Friday night saw the return of Dancing With The Stars pro Tony Dovalani who was joined by his celebrity partner Melissa Rycroft.

Regarding the International Standard Scholarships, judge Heather Smith said "It was the highest level of Bronze and Silver pro/am dancing I have ever seen."

The Amateur Formation Team competition was a close race between the Bay Area Elite and the team from Cebu City, Philippines with the Bay Area Elite emerging victorious.

Saturday Night was completely SOLD OUT with a Standing Room Only crowd that filled the ballroom until the very end.

The stars were shining at Saturday night's Emerald Ball.

We were pleased to be joined once again by DWTS pro Tony Dovalani who was joined last night by DWTS judge Len Goodman. Tony and Len were surprise guest judges for the Open Professional International Latin Championship.

Also on hand was Dmitry Chaplin, a DWTS first timer as well as series regulars Jonathan Roberts and Anna Trebunskaya.

Did I mention we also had the pleasure of hosting some Dancing With The Stars former pros including Louis Van Amstel and Nick Kosovich?

Of course on the panel of Judges for this year's Emerald Ball are Season 1 pro Charlotte Jorgensen, last season's Corky Ballas and Shirley Ballas, mother of Dancing With The Stars favorite Mark Ballas.

Speaking of Mark Ballas, while it was unfortunate that he and Derek Hough were not able to attend Saturday evening the good news is they were unable to attend because their band Ballas/Hough was asked to play at the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer game. Way to go guys.

The star sightings were not limited to the ballroom. Vendors at this year's Emerald Ball include Dancing With The Stars costume designers Randall Designs, Designs to Shine by Maria McGill and LeNique.

The Emerald Ball is also pleased to have some other fabulous dress makers including Donna, Inc., Dore Designs, Fashions For Passion and Zdenka Arko.

The vendor area has been super busy and we thank all of the vendors for their continued support.

Last but not least I have to mention the amazing new stage designed and built by Mark Weiss. I have received more compliments on this aspect of the event than on anything else.....thanks Mark!

Another year, another Emerald Ball.

The event is behind us but the memories will live on.

A huge thanks to all of the competitors, studios and spectators. Your continued support is what makes this the greatest event on the west coast.

Last but not least, I have to mention 2 of the hardest working people at the Emerald Ball. Yolanda Vargas and Rosendo Fumero are our On-Deck Captains and keep the event running smoothly and on time.....thanks you two!
