An Overview Of The Emerald Ball

Wow, what an amazing turn out! Quarterfinals starting as early as the single dances in pre-bronze for every style, that is impressive. This impresses me even more so than the 10,500 entries, don’t get me wrong over 10,000 entries is amazing but to have such a high level and quality of dances starting in pre-bronze makes it special. There was never a dull moment where we had to wait around and watch teachers dancing dozens of uncontested merengue’s and P body’s.

I asked some of my students how they felt at this competition compared to previous competitions and they replied by saying how exhilarating it was to have so many call backs and be surrounded by so much talent

I noticed all students and instructors spared no expense to look their best. All very attractive costumes, hair, make-up, and some of the best fake tans I have ever seen.

Emerald Ball has always been HUGE. However, I felt that the Bronze level was especially high. It’s good to see a thriving event and so many new faces especially with the way the economy has been.

This year the participant awards were track suits or DVD’s worth up to $99, which was a very nice touch.

The only whispering complaints I heard was that the scholarship money was not that much for such a big competition.

Yolanda & Rosendo were great as Deck Captains; it was like all chaos was under control. If you were there you know what I mean, if you were not, then it was a must have experience.
